⌁Safety & considerations

Botox is non-surgical and generally involves little disruption to normal routine. Temporary injection-site effects can include mild redness, swelling, tenderness, or small bruises. As with any medical treatment, other effects are possible and depend on treatment area, injection technique, and individual response. Discuss medical history, medications, allergies, and any concerns before treatment, and seek medical advice promptly for an unexpected or concerning reaction.

A clear starting point
before you book.

Botox is a non-surgical aesthetic treatment used to temporarily reduce the appearance of dynamic facial lines caused by repeated muscle movement. At DermaSpot Clinic, treatment begins with an individual assessment of facial features, muscle movement, and aesthetic goals. The aim is not simply to reduce wrinkles, but to create a balanced, natural-looking result that respects facial expression and proportions.

What may be discussed
  • Upper-face lines
  • Lower-face lines
  • Masseter injections for lower-face slimming or sleep bruxism
  • Gummy-smile correction
  • Excessive sweating of the palms, soles, and underarms
  • Selected scar-support discussions
  • Other expression-related lines where Botox may be appropriate

How this treatment works

Botox contains botulinum toxin type A. When appropriately injected into selected muscles, it temporarily reduces the muscle activity responsible for certain dynamic facial lines. As the treated muscles gradually become less active, the appearance of movement-related lines can become softer. Botox does not permanently stop facial movement, and treatment should be individually planned to maintain a natural appearance.

Is this the right conversation?

Suitability starts
with context.

Botox may be suitable for adults concerned about dynamic facial lines who want a non-surgical option, but it is not the right treatment for every type of wrinkle or facial concern. During consultation, Dr. Maha assesses facial anatomy, muscle movement, skin condition, the areas that concern you, and your aesthetic goals to discuss whether Botox or another treatment may be more appropriate.

What happens
next?

Treatment starts with a consultation. Dr. Maha assesses facial features and relevant muscle movement, discusses the concern and the result you hope to achieve, then explains whether Botox is appropriate, which areas may benefit, what can reasonably be expected, and what to know before and after treatment. If the treatment is appropriate, carefully placed injections are performed in selected muscles during a clinic visit. The number of injections and amount used depend on the areas treated and the individual plan, followed by appropriate aftercare guidance. Dr. Maha personally performs Botox at the clinic; laser hair removal is the exception and is performed by the clinic’s qualified medical team.

Results, timing & planning

Important expectations
before deciding.

Botox does not produce its full effect immediately; changes develop progressively after treatment and the final effect is assessed once the treatment has had time to take effect. Response varies with muscle activity, treatment area, and individual characteristics. The effects are temporary and, for many patients, typically last around three to four months, although this can vary between individuals and treatment areas. Further treatment can be discussed at follow-up based on individual response and goals.

Botox vs fillers

Botox and dermal fillers are different treatments used for different purposes. Some patients may benefit from one treatment, while others may be better suited to a combination approach. The appropriate option depends on facial anatomy, concerns, and treatment goals.
